BenQ U105 Netbook Hands on at IT Month 2010

www.netbooknews.com If you're looking for something cheap with a 1 year global warrenty then the BenQ U105 might be the netbook for you. First off its on sale at IT Month 2010 for $330 taxes included and the feature that would set this unit apart from other Netbooks would be the screens ability to withstand 35 pounds of pressure. I didn't test it out, but a extremely firm press on the back of the screen that showed 0 colour reflection or distortion led me to believe this might have upped the ante on BenQ's build quality. Its built with Intel's latest Atom N450 processor and pre-loaded with Windows 7 Starter. I wasn't able to test it out on the show floor but this 10 incher boasts enhanced SRS Trusurround HD and CS Headphone audio technology. The rest is standard with three USB 2.0 slots, 4-in-1 card reader, VGA, Ethernet, web cam and WIfi. Check of the video for your self to see how the screen can actually withstand a fair bit of pressure.

ASUS Eee PC 1215N With Matte Display Spotted

www.amazon.com www.netbooknews.com While Sascha and Nicole were checking out some ASUS event in Taiwan yesterday, and getting some hands on time with the upcoming ASUS U36JC, they spotted an ASUS Eee PC 1215N with a matte display. Everything else - the dual core Atom D525 processor, Nvidia ION 2 graphics and the rest of the chassis remains identical. There wasn't any official word on any matte displays coming out but definitely I'm hoping they'll carry over their matte display trend on 10-inch netbooks over to their 12-inch form factor.

Hands on: 11.6" MSI U270 Running AMD's Zacate

www.netbooknews.com MSI had a press event in Taipei where it showed off an early preview of some of its CES wares to the local media. Among the devices on display by far the most interesting was the 11.6 inch MSI U270 which was running on an AMD development platform. A Rep from MSI let us know that it was in fact running on the 1.6- GHz Zacate Processor from AMD. The unit has a very thin bezel around its 1366 x 768 resolution display. As for other specs we know they are planning a 320-500GB HDD and up to 4GB of RAM. The U270 also offers i USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, VGA out, HDMI, SD card reader and the standard audio jack, ethernet & kensington lock. The finish of the unit is very glossy and a finger print magnet just like its screen. They chiclet keyboard was very well built and offered little flex when typing. We don't know much else about this subnotebook from MSI, no release dates or prices. Perhaps we will find out a bit more during CES in a few days.
